Presets for Benchmarking

  • Custom: It allows you to change the launch option.

  • Basic: It provides your GPU with a standard load.

  • Extreme: Allows you to push the limit of your GPU beyond normal limits.

Depending on your GPU's specifications, select Basic or Extreme.

Remember, the optimal preset is the basic if you have a low- or mid-tier GPU. However, you can choose the extreme preset with a high-end GPU. Keep an eye on the temperature; it may exceed and cause issues if you do not have a proper cooling system.

Graphics API

  • DirectX 11

  • DirectX 9 (without any tessellation)

  • OpenGL

Select the option after cross-checking with your GPU compatibility.

Graphics Setting

  • Ultra High to Low

For instance, if you have an RTX 3080, you can quickly push the settings to Ultra High. However, make sure that your processor does not bottleneck your graphics card.

Tessellation Preset

  • Moderate- Rational performance on a variety of hardware supporting DX11

  • Normal- It’s the standard setting with a 50/50 quality and performance ratio. Also, an optimized tessellation provides a better performance.

  • Extreme- This option enables the maximum level of stress your hardware can handle (Only suitable for high-end hardware)

The best setting is typical if you own a GPU like the RX580. However, the extreme setting can be used for GPUs like the RTX series or the RX6000. To avoid danger, ensure a proper power distribution and cooling environment.

Stereo 3D

  • Disabled- Stereo 3D rendering is turned off.

  • 3D Vision-  This is the NVIDIA VISION STEREO(3D). You must own a 3D Vision-supported monitor and graphics card to use this mode. Furthermore, you have an active shutter glass, too.

  • 3D Surround-  This is the NVIDIA Surround Stereo(3D) for three monitors. Also, the requirement to use this function is the same as 3D Vision.

  • Side-by-Side- The screen is split in half horizontally to render right and left-eye pictures.

  • Dual Output- It’s the distinct stereo mode for third-party or custom AR/VR output devices.

  • Top-and-bottom- The screen is split in half vertically to render right and left-eye pictures.

  • Interlaced- It’s the option to turn on interlaced stereo.

  • Anaglyph - This is the setting to turn on the anaglyph stereo. However, you need a red cyan glass.

  • Oculus - This option is to turn on the stereo mode for the prominent virtual reality named Oculus Rift.

Anti-Aliasing

  • You can choose any level of anti-aliasing or even turn it off depending on the capability of your hardware.

The above settings are for your graphics card. After checking your hardware, cross-check your graphics card's compatibility, and use the settings wisely for the best performance.

Determining the Results

Now comes the significant part of benchmarking for maximum performance: determining the result. Firstly, use the basic mode to use the benchmark. It makes the process easier for you to understand the result. The first result from using the basic mode will give you a comprehensive idea of which settings will provide you with the best performance.

Using the other settings before the basic mode will create massive confusion. You won’t understand which settings to choose, and it will hinder your efforts to get the best performance from your PC.

Therefore, after getting the results from basic mode, you can optimize at your liberty. Crosscheck and inspect the settings mentioned above and use them accordingly. It will ensure a performance boost.

Here’s an example of a result from benchmarking in basic mode.
